Latest Updates on the Orchard
Following long conversations on the upkeep and mowing of the grassed areas the decision was taken to sow wildflower seeds to encourage butterflies and bees and to keep the maintenance of it simple....overgrown grass will just look uncared for which is not the idea - unless we have budding gardeners who would be happy to commit an hour a week to care for it??
Bill Simpson was called in - and did a cracking job of levelling and seed planting....roll on 2022 to see the results....
The wildflower seeds have germinated and will produce flowers over the next 2 to 3 years....it is not immediate but we hope well worth waiting for...the trees are doing well and the next step is to have a fence around the area to protect the orchard - some of you may have seen there is a slab positioned - this is for the Community bench WSM have purchased for those who would like to sit a while and watch the world go by - bit chilly now in January but at some point the sun will come out - and it will be summer....Photos will be added once the bench is there, the fence up and the trees in leaf.....Mother Nature takes her time but she is worth waiting for...
The bench is there.....as some of you have already seen - Thank you for all the positive comments ....there is no exhaust on the tractor as we are going "green" ......
Fencing is being costed and will be erected in the next month or so....all we need is the sun - rain yesterday will encourage the flower growth - warm weather has to be on the way soon.....
