Winners List

The overall winner for the Ron Abbott Shield (horticultural) was presented to Rob Mullen by Margaret Abbott.

Ron was a long serving Councillor on WSM Parish Council and is much missed. This is our dedication to his memory. The family have had the wood near St Mary's Church named in his memory with a lovely sign to commenorate - there are photos on our FaceBook page.

The overall winner for the Elsie Lepla shield (homecraft) was presented to Babs Borrell by by Elsie's grandson.

Elsie passed away this year at over 100 - the oldest resident of Wainfleet St Mary and still living independently. She supported everything the Council did and was a very active Community member for the whole of her life

The Rod Picker Shield was won by Marilyn Pryme for the line of cows - the photos were of such exceptional quality it was not an easy decision I am sure....

The calendar to include the top photo from each category will have a further 7 added from the dozens we had submitted - once it is available and in print we will ensure each winner has a copy - the remainder will go on sale to raise funds for the Community - an ideal stocking filler....

Rod was also a long serving Councillor who knew everything about Wainfleet and, like Ron, his knowledge and experience is sorely missed......if Rod didn't know then no-one would know....

The large shields are in the process of being engraved with the Winners names - we will let you know when they are done and ready to be collected by yourselves.

The Sunflower Competition;

Tallest was won by the Netting family in St Michael's Lane in WSM

The largest head ( careful how that is said) - Sunflower head (of course) was won by Catherine Smithson Whitehead on Wainfleet Bank (WSM side) - and was so heavy it had to be held up.
