Renewing the paths in Wainfleet Saint Mary

You may have seen notices advising LCC using the contractor Kiely Bros will be resurfacing some of the pathways in Wainfleet Saint Mary using a surface treatment called Micro Surfacing. Information leaflets have been delivered to the households affected but for those who are interested then please read on....!!

The work should start 3 days following the receipt of the leaflet and residents are requested not to leave any vehicles parked on the footway, road or verges when the work is due to start.

The process will happen in a series of stages which can be spread over several weeks - all vegetation growing in the areas to be resurfaced will be treated with weed killer. Any overgrowth is removed to expose the full extent of the footway. Any defected areas that require patching will be attended to prior to the new surface being laid. Ironwork adjustment will be raised to accommodate the new surface level. Finally the surface is pressure washed to remove any moss or loose material.

This method will create a new and uniform surface - laid over the existing footway it protects and seals out any water.

It is a cold applied product of bitumen emulsion and stone which is mixed on site using specialist equipment and spread by trained operatives.

Generally work is carried out between 7.30 am and 6pm. Please be aware on street parking will not be possible whilst operations are ongoing. Pedestrian Access will also be restricted during the course of the works. Please also ensure your pets are kept inside whilst the works are carried out. The material will remain wet for anything from 15 minutes to 30 minutes after it has been laid dependant on the weather.

When it is first laid the material is brown in colour - as it sets it will turn dark grey/black.

On completion of all the works a joint inspection is carried out by the local highways and a representative from Kiely Bros.

Further information is available from www.lincolnshire.gov.uk - or call 01522 782070

Please do not access or exit your property by driving or walking over the newly laid material until it has fully set and the cones removed - and please do not remove any temporary signage or barriers on site.

Thank you.
